At national level, Switzerland has committed itself to a net-zero target by 2050 and enshrined this target in law. This means that by 2050, only as many greenhouse gases may be emitted as can be removed from the atmosphere. Municipalities and cantons play a central role in achieving this goal and should therefore set an example on the path to net zero.
With a greenhouse gas balance sheet from Swiss Climate, you can comprehensively record your CO₂ emissions – from direct to upstream and downstream emissions (Scope 1 – 3).
Accounting for greenhouse gas emissions is the first step towards an effective energy and climate strategy. A well-founded greenhouse gas balance sheet shows where emissions arise, how they can be reduced and which measures have the greatest leverage.
Our CO₂ management experts at Swiss Climate support you in collecting, analysing and interpreting your emissions data – scientifically sound, practical and in accordance with recognised standards such as the GHG Protocol.
We prepare greenhouse gas inventories for:
Building on this, we support you in:
‘I am very satisfied with the comprehensive energy and climate concept, including greenhouse gas accounting for the administration and municipal area, as well as clearly defined goals and measures. Working with Swiss Climate was always a pleasant experience and characterised by a high degree of flexibility in responding to our municipality's concerns. We particularly appreciated the technical input and structured approach, which enabled us to develop a targeted plan.’
Stefano Dias-Machado, Head of Environmental Protection, Municipality of Herisau
