Jakob Müller Holding – Development of a sustainability roadmap
Jakob Müller Holding AG, based in Frick, is a traditional Swiss company with over 130 years of history. Today, the globally active group comprises five specialised companies in the fields of textile machinery manufacturing and process engineering. With around 1,000 employees at 11 locations worldwide, the group pursues a long-term strategy aimed at sustainable growth and forward-looking solutions.
Starting point: Setting a framework for sustainability commitment
Jakob Müller Holding had already implemented sustainability measures before the project began. However, the challenge was to coordinate these measures in a meaningful way and to define relevant areas of action for future sustainability management. In order to further develop and strategically bundle its activities, Jakob Müller Holding decided to work with Swiss Climate to develop a sustainability roadmap. The aim was to identify the key sustainability issues, taking into account internal requirements, regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations, and to schedule them. The roadmap is intended to create a common understanding of the relevant areas of action, embed existing initiatives in a clearly structured framework and serve as a basis for action in the area of sustainability for the coming years.
Approach: Participatory and solution-oriented – working together to create a sustainability roadmap
In a first step, Jakob Müller Holding and Swiss Climate jointly analysed the status quo, systematically recorded existing sustainability activities and discussed ambitions, taking into account the company-specific framework conditions. In a three-hour workshop, the key areas of action were then prioritised, concrete work packages defined, and responsibilities and necessary resources determined. Swiss Climate subsequently processed the results and determined the further course of action together with Jakob Müller Holding.
Result: a clear roadmap for effective sustainability
The sustainability roadmap provides Jakob Müller Holding with clear guidance for the strategic development of its sustainability commitment. It creates transparency about the most important areas of action, prioritises measures and defines responsibilities – thus forming the basis for structured, efficient and targeted implementation. By taking internal resources and realistic planning horizons into account, the roadmap strengthens both the operational implementation and the strategic anchoring of sustainability at Jakob Müller Holding.
