On 13 May 2025, the Climate Breakfast 2025 took place at the Marriott Hotel in Zurich on the topic of ‘Net Zero in the Financial Sector’. Organised by Swiss Climate, the event brought together leading experts and decision-makers from financial institutions and the real economy to discuss the calculation and reduction of financed emissions.
After a welcome coffee, Luka Blumer from Swiss Climate opened the conference with a presentation on the application of the PCAF (Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials) framework and showed how it can serve as a basis for realistic climate targets.
In the panel discussion that followed, Ruben Feldman (Zürcher Kantonalbank), Urs Podzorski (Aargauer Kantonalbank) and Andreas Holzer (Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank) shared practical insights into the implementation of climate strategies at their respective institutions. The challenges and solutions in the field of sustainable finance, particularly in the mortgage sector, the asset management and in the granting of sustainable loans, were discussed.
Finally, the networking breakfast provided an opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from the industry and deepen the knowledge gained.
The Climate Breakfast 2025 impressively demonstrated how financial institutions can make a significant contribution to achieving the net-zero target through targeted strategies and cooperation.
