Project Description
Prior to the project, the region of Madhya Pradesh in India had covered its electricity needs with energy from the national grid. Conventional electricity in India is CO2-intensive, as most of the energy is produced by burning fossil fuels. Alongside the lack of financial resources, bureaucratic hurdles often stand in the way of projects to promote renewable energy in India.
As part of the wind project, 67 modern wind turbines were installed by a private company in a district in central India, generating 176 GWh of renewable electricity in total. The renewable electricity produced in this way replaces a portion of the conventional electricity from fossil fuels in the region’s power grid. It thereby contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and stimulating local economic growth.
The project has already created many new jobs and facilitated social progress. This not only improves the livelihood of the local population but also directly ensures that the project is firmly rooted in the region.
In addition, the project contributes to sustainable development in the region with specific measures and programmes for environmental and social aspects.
